Kolos - Regina Ukrainian Dance Ensemble is fortunate to have on staff Serhiy & Liana Zabutnyy of Ukraine. They are Masters of Ballet and Ukrainian Folk Dance.

Serhiy and Liana studied dance instruction and choreography in Ukraine. Both are graduates of the Dnipropetrovsk College of Culture and Education with majors in Cultural and Educational Activities.

Upon completing their studies they were hired by Ternopil Regional Philharmonic Society where they danced professionally with world renowned dance troupe, Nadzbruchanka. While dancing with Nadzbruchanka, Serhiy earned the position of head ballet-master. In this position, he created and released a number of dances that were considered of highest artistic caliber featuring professionalism and creativity.

Serhiy is considered to have a profound theoretical and practical knowledge of Ukrainian dance which he acquired in his studies and perfected in numerous performance tours in Ukraine, Canada, Poland, France, Czech Republic and Slovakia. His creative achievements include twice being distinguished with the award of Honorary Performer of Ukraine.

Liana's skills and accomplishments are no less impressive. She graduated with honors and was commended for her work in dance composition and staging. While dancing as a ballet dancer with Nadzbruchanka, she was conferred the title of Ballet Dancer of Highest Category. Liana gained experience instructing children through her work with the Ukrainian School system and with hearing impaired children in Ukraine.

These two phenomenal talents have chosen to live and work in Regina, with their son Maksym. They are the sole instructors at Kolos and they teach every dance group within the school from Pre-Beginners to the Performing Ensemble.
